Håkon Kornstad is a prize-winning saxophonist, known by jazz critics globally for his several exciting collaborations since 1998. His trailblazing solo-saxophone project is especially notable. In 2009, he discovered his own tenor voice and an interest in opera. Kornstad’s music has, since then, had a base in classical song and operas fused with improvisation and jazz. This trio-project has an openness and presence that separates it from the rest of Kornstad’s projects.
In his trio, he has two of the best and most well-rounded improvisors on today’s European music stage. Their repertoire is composed of songs from the old world, opera, and new compositions woven with improvisation and an interplay that sparks. The music is constantly moving, and the flow of ideas, questions, and answers creates a unique concert each and every evening. This music is full of freedom, warmth, and mood. Always in harmony with their audience – be it jazz fans, opera lovers, and everyone who simply likes live music.
